Indications: Treatment and prevention of deep vein thrombosis ( DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE). Prevention of stroke and systemic embolism in patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation. Reduction of the risk of major cardiovascular events in patients with chronic coronary artery disease (CAD) or peripheral artery disease (PAD) when used with aspirin. Prevention of venous thromboembolism (VTE) in patients hospitalized for acute illness or after certain surgeries (e.g., hip or knee replacement).
