Used for: Prevent blood clots in people who have had hip or knee replacement surgery, or who have had abdominal surgery. Treat blood clots in the legs (deep vein thrombosis, or DVT) and in the lungs (pmonary embolism, or PE). Arixtra is given as a subcutaneous injection (injection under the skin). The injection shod be given in the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm. The dose of Arixtra will vary depending on your condition and your doctor's instructions.
